Yep, companies need to continually reinvent themselves. Or they have to do what we can call "creative destruction".....Apple, I think, is an excellent sample on how to create re-tranformation process. From desktop company to digital lifestyle company.

The 'natural process' u've described is exactly what company should avoid, mas AdhiRock =p. The current trend now is for companies to 're-invent' themselves, or even to 'reborn' as different entities altogether. Seemingly divine approach for strategy, taking companies as if they were living organisms.

But if we think about it, there's nothing new about refreshing our strategy. We, or at least I, normally spend some time at the end of the year to evaluate current stand, in terms of simple things like salary, career advancement, blog updates =p. It's just a way for us to eventually renew ourselves, when needed.

The same goes to corporations, especially those which have been rest on their laurels (like IBM). Tough thing to do, but in this time where changes measured in seconds, it's a necessity.

Seperti prodcut life cycle atau juga company life cycle, masing2 memeiliki fase untuk dilalui.. ada fase development, growth, mature and finally die. It is nature bukan? Analoginya podo karo Buah mangga... ngembang, tumbuh, mateng terus bosok... disinilah seorang CEO dituntut menggunakan sense of business-nya untuk kemudian membalikkan keadaan or at least to survive 1000 tahun lagi.

Sama sperti buah mangga... setelah matang.. akan busuk... tdk ada lagi value-nya... daripada busuk.. mending dibuat manisan, aseman atau rujak... biar value-nya tetap ada.
