memang banyak perusahaan di Indonesia masih "meng-anak tirikan" posisi HRD, karena mereka menganggap bahwa kemampuan HRD hanya sebatas melakukan tes atau rekrutmen saja.

Good point, Jennie.

Many say that "gut feeling" plays an important role in interviewing people and judging their quality (Malcolm Gladwell brilliantly explores this in his masterpice, BLINK).

But then, we also have to be careful.....Sometimes we encounter difficulties in differentiating between "good gut feeling" and "bias error".

Without coherent and structured interview protocol, we might be falling down into the trap of Hallo Effect, or First Impression Error, or Similar-to-me-effect.

Running my own company, no matter how small, I know first-hand the importance of hiring great people. By "great" I mean emphasizing on personality traits in addition to sufficient skills. Yes, personality means more than skills. Personality (character) is one that people are born with, while skills can be learned and taught

Soft skills are harder to measure, however, so I need to use the so-called "gut feeling" as well as observation. It is sometimes kinda hard to really peek into an applicant's mind/heart, but it has to be done. The more often we do it (hiring), the better we'd be in "judging" people's characters.

Just my two cents,
Jennie

(Keep up the great job!)
